The makers of actor Geetha Kailasam's recently released film Angammal announced that it will make its digital debut on January 9 on SunNXT.

After a successful festival run, Angammal, directed by Vipin Radhakrishnan, was released in theatres on December 5. The film, based on Perumal Murugan's Kodithuni, is about an elderly woman who exercises freedom at the cost of society's validation. It features Geetha Kailasam and Saran Sakthi as a mother and son who are at loggerheads over adhering to traditional norms. The film also stars Bharani, Thendral Raghunanthan, and Mullaiyarasi.

The film, which generally opened to positive reviews, received 3.5 stars in the Cinema Express review. An excerpt from the review reads, "Angammal is mainly about how the older generation is either left behind in the name of evolution or asked to undergo a drastic change to keep up. The film acts as a reminder of how such expectations are definitely an act of violence against the geriatric, who have done enough to deserve a life of rest."

She will next be seen in debut director Semmalar Annam's Mayilaa, presented by Pa Ranjith's Neelam Productions. The upcoming film, produced by Newton Cinemas, the technical crew comprises cinematographer Vinoth Janakiraman, editor A Sreekar Prasad, and sound designer Anand Krishnamoorthi. The film also stars Melodi Dorcas, Shudar Kodi, and Sathya Maruthani.
