GKM Tamil Kumaran gets elected as President of Tamil Film Producers Council

GKM Tamil Kumaran was part of the 'Nalam Kaakum' ie., Welfare team. His opponent Thenandal Murali had gotten 241 votes

Noted producer GKM Tamil Kumaran has been elected as the president of the Tamil Film Producers Council in the elections that recently took place in Chennai's Anna Nagar. The producer received 788 votes and won the position. For the unversed, the current team's tenure ends in May.

GKM Tamil Kumaran was part of the 'Nalam Kaakum' ie., Welfare team. His opponent Thenandal Murali had gotten 241 votes, giving Tamil Kumaran a huge 527-vote margin in the elections. This election was also significant as the producer's vote share was reportedly the highest received by any candidate in the history of the Tamil Film Producers Council elections. Meanwhile, Sujatha Vijayakumar from the same party was elected the joint secretary after winning with over 700 votes. N Subash Chandrabose won the treasurer post with 609 votes.

The elections took place under the supervision of Justice S Rajeswaran where two teams Nalam Kaakum and Ram Narayanan contested. 1171 out of 1529 members cast their votes this year. Some noteworthy celebrities who took part in the elections include Rajinikanth, Prakash Raj, Vishal, Kalaipuli S Thanu, Suhasini, Nasser, Samuthirakani and Mohan, among others.

The newly-elected members will take over their positions after the current tenure of the team ends in April. GKM Tamil Kumaran and the team will lead the council until 2029.
