Samuthirakani is a peculiar detective whose investigating methodologies are unique but successful in the trailer for Thadayam. The ZEE5 series also stars Sshivada in the lead role.
The trailer shows Inspector Lakshmi (Sshivada) as a superior police officer to Sub-inspector Athiyaman (Samuthirkani), whom she is warned is peculiar. However, she eventually learns of his unique skills involved in solving cases easily. They both seem to embark on a murder investigation that leads them to a complicated web of murders, counting nearly 70 of them. The trailer promises a quirky and nail-biting investigative thriller series.
As per ZEE5's official description, the series is "set in the rural border villages, and follows a disturbing pattern of midnight murders, each scene identical, each trail going cold, except for one chilling detail: the killer steals only the sacred symbols of marriage. As fear turns into folklore, a newly transferred officer uncovers a ritualistic thread behind the crimes, leading to a tense, night‑driven investigation where every revelation deepens the mystery."
Speaking about making his webseries debut with Thadayam, Samuthirkani said as per a press note, "What drew me to Thadayam was its authenticity. This is not a loud cop story but it’s about patience, observation, and understanding the human mind. Athiyamaan is a grounded officer walking into a landscape filled with fear and unanswered questions, and that complexity made the role deeply compelling.”
Further, actor Sshivada added, “Inspector Lakshmi is strong, intuitive, and resilient in the face of relentless horror. Thadayam gives space to its characters to breathe, to question, and to feel the weight of what they’re up against. It’s rare to find a crime series that balances emotional realism with such an eerie atmosphere.”
The cast of Thadayam also comprises Raj Tirandas, Munnar Ramesh, Sundharpandyan, Prem, Kotravai, Vishakan, Pulipandi, Abhishek Joseph George, Ravichandran, Karthi, Suparna, and Dayalan. Navinkumar Palanivel has helmed the series, which will feature KK's camera work, Dinesh Kumar's editing and Vibin Baskar's compositions.
The series is produced by Ajey Krishna under the Cocktail Cinemas banner and is said to be inspired by true events. Thadayam is all set to premiere on ZEE5 on February 27.
