It has been six years since the release of Oh My Kadavule, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and starring Ashok Selvan in the lead role. On the special occasion, director Ashwath took to social media to share his thoughts about the film and working with Ashok Selvan on it.
"I always wanted to make my first film for Ashok Selvan not just because he is an amazing actor but also an amazing friend ! His trust on me is Oh my kadavule! I want you to go bigger heights macha and u are always my first hero," Ashwath wrote. The filmmaker also shared a throwback picture featuring the two of them working on the sets of the film.
In his response, Ashok wrote, "Love you macha! Making OMK was one of the best life experiences. Good or bad times, We stuck together as a team. Nothing like working with friends. As always, I wish you the best to do more and more amazing films." The actor also teased the possibility of him coming back to work with Ashwath again. He wrote, "Until we meet again on the sets, cheers my boy!"
The film, which hit theatres on February 14, 2020, received plenty of critical appreciation upon its release. It follows a man (Ashok) who gets another shot at building a successful marital life after his first marriage fails. After his marriage to his best friend falls apart, he gets to travel back in time for another chance to fix it through divine intervention. In our review, Sudhir Srinivasan wrote, "It's a film written with effort, with many ideas coming full circle." The review further added, "Ashok Selvan has a lot riding on this film, and I liked him especially in the comedy portions where he relies on animated expressions."
The film also stars Ritika Singh, Vani Bhojan and Sha Ra. Ashwath Marimuthu remade it in Telugu, 2022's Ori Devuda, starring Vishwak Sen, Mithila Palkar, and Asha Bhat. Last year, he made even bigger fame with his second Tamil film Dragon, starring Pradeep Ranganathan, Kayadu Lohar, and Mysskin, among others.
