Kamal Haasan joined millions in Kerala and elsewhere to wish well to the parents of a ten-month-old infant named Alin Sherin Abraham, who recently became the youngest organ donor in the state's history. Medical professionals declared Alin brain dead following her accident. Subsequently, Alin's parents decided to donate her organs, including her kidneys and liver, to others in need. Sharing a picture of the child with her parents, Kamal wrote, "Salute you, Arun Abraham and Sherin Ann John. Our baby, Alin Sherin Abraham, lived for months within her mother, and ten months embraced by her parents’ boundless love. Now, she will help five other babies live better lives."
Kamal also praised her parents' mentality and attitude, highlighting how these qualities will keep them in good stead. "By mindset and by heart, you are - and will always remain - loving parents. Please retrieve your happiness through life. You both truly deserve it. Dear Sherin and Arun, Yours, Kamal Haasan," the actor added.
Kamal has not mentioned Kerala or otherwise highlighted the fact that they are the state's youngest organ donor's parents, maybe because the news concerning them have gone beyond geographical barriers and have taken on humanitarian proportions. That said, it is worth noting that Kamal is known to have a close affinity for Kerala and its people, as well as the Malayalam film industry. A few years ago, he criticised The Kerala Story and called it a propaganda movie. He has also expressed his admiration for the state's political landscape and development, under Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and underscored the 'Kerala model" as one of his political inspirations.
On the work front, Kamal has multiple projects in the pipeline, including one with stunt choreographer duo-turned-director Anbariv and Rajinikanth's 173rd film, with Don fame Cibi Chakaravarthi as its director.
