Vijay's upcoming film Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, has been locked in legal tussles over granting of a censor certificate by the Central Bureau of Film Certification (CBFC) since December 2025, which led to its postponement from its initial release on January 9. Along with fans and audiences, many celebrities who were eagerly awaiting to catch Vijay's swansong, expressed their disappointment on social media and extended their support to the actor-politician.

Among the many actors who stood in solidarity with Vijay was Silambarasan TR who wrote a few words of encouragement on his X handle saying, "Dear Vijay anna, setbacks have never stopped you. You’ve crossed bigger storms than this. This too shall pass, real Thiruvizha begins on the day Jana Nayagan releases." The actor has now opened up about the repeated setbacks the actioner has been facing in a new interview.

"We cannot separate Jana Nayagan and Vijay," Simbu remarked, in a conversation with Vikatan. "He has been in this industry for so many years and has worked in a film for one last time. I put a post supporting him, as the film should come out. I neither know politics nor have the relevant experience in it. I am also not the right person to speak about it. I wish him the best for his upcoming political endeavours and his future in it," he added.

During the recent order on January 27, the Madras High Court's Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice G Arul Murugan passed an order setting aside the single judge's directive given by PT Asha on January 9, directing Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to issue U/A 16+ certificate to the movie. The court annulled the earlier order that had directed the grant of a censor certificate to the film without referring it to a revising committee, observing that the single judge should have allowed time for filing a counter-affidavit.

According to reports, KVN Productions is heading to the revising committee as it hadn't yet amended its prayer or approached the Supreme Court to challenge the order given by the Division Bench. But CBFC officials have remained tight-lipped on details regarding the further course of the issue.

Meanwhile, Silambarasan is currently shooting for Vetri Maaran's much-anticipated Arasan, which has a story from the world of Vada Chennai. Besides Silambarasan, Arasan also stars Vijay Sethupathi along with Andrea Jeremiah, reprising her role as Chandra from Vada Chennai, and Yogalakshmi. After Arasan, he will join director Ashwath Marimuthu for STR 51.
