Earlier, we reported about Ajay Dhishan and RK Dhanusha starring in a romantic drama, directed by Ganesh Chandra from a screenplay by Puthiya Parithi. Recently, the team behind the film spoke to CE about the film, slated to hit theatres on February 13, Friday. One of the interesting parts of the conversation is about the meaning of the title Pookie, as explained by the film's writer Puthiya Parithi. He said that even the film's director Ganesh did not know its meaning and asked him about it when he first brought it up. "Pookie is a Gen Z word and a term of endearment. However, it is more relevant to cuteness. We thought about other titles earlier, and it occurred to me to use this title while travelling with Ganesh on a bike. I told him about whether we could use the title, he liked it and he asked me what it meant."
The writer said that Gen Z kids understood what it meant but others did not.
Even so, they eventually decided to use the said title and communicated the same to producer Vijay Antony, who also serves as the film's editor and composer. "He told us, 'What is this? Think of a good title.' We told him that it is a good title, he okayed it and then we registered it," the writer said about the conversation with Vijay Antony.
The writer also said that Vijay would first do what his film's creators ask for and only then he would think about it. "He registered the title immediately after we asked him about it. 'If it is okay for you, it is the same for me also,' the writer recounted the conversation. However, the producer had second thoughts about the title afterwards until something happened. Interestingly, another romantic film's makers contacted Pookie team for title rights. Puthiya Parithi said that this was when Vijay Antony felt more convinced about the film's title.
The film also stars Pandiarajan, Lakshmi Manchu, Sunil, Indumathi Manigandan, Vivek Prasanna, Aaditya Kathir, Black Pandi, MJ Shriram, Bigg Boss Sathya, Radha, Shiyara Sharmi, Ashwin Ram, and Priyanka.
