Exclusive | Vadivukkarasi: Acting with Goundamani requires caution

The actor talked about what it was like to work with the legendary comedian in Porantha Veeda Puguntha Veeda

Cinema Express Desk

Veteran actor Vadivukkarasi recently spoke exclusively to CE about her experience working with Goundamani in Porantha Veeda Puguntha Veeda. The actor said that working with the legendary comic actor requires one to be on their toes all the time. She recalled one incident where she asked for another take and Goundamani quipped, "Didn't you act twice already? Does Tamil Nadu have to be informed separately?"

Vadivukkarasi revealed that Goundamani remains his humorous self on set as well, cracking jokes and countering comments from his cast and crew. For example, when an assistant director taught a heroine such as Bhanupriya a line, he would satirically say, "Oh, so now the 'dark beauty' has a doubt, does she?"

The veteran actor also noted that, despite his tongue-in-cheek comments about his co-stars, nobody takes offense to anything he says on set. Even the likes of Sivakumar would smile and not mind when he started his "commentary" while working on the film. She also mentioned how Goundamani would respond if a member of the public asks him about how he is doing. "'What would you do if I say I am not doing well?'"

The actor admitted that collaborating with Goundamani has been a fun experience, although his wit requires his co-stars to stay alert and "careful" to match his spontaneous nature.

Vadivukkarasi is part of writer-director Vijaya Kumaran's latest horror film titled Granny, co-starring Dhileepan, Singam Puli, Gaja Raja, Ananthu Nag, Aparna, Master Ghanshyam, and Baby Sandrea.
