Actor Karthi recently opened up on the scene from Sardar (2022), which haunted him. The actor headlined the 2022 spy thriller, which was written and directed by PS Mithran. Karthi was in a conversation with director Mithran and actor SJ Suryah for Sardar 2.

Speaking about the spotlight on the impact of bottled water usage in Sardar, SJ Suryah said, "A lot of people do not have access to good quality food. Many women have said that their menstrual cycle are changing because of low quality food and water. We all think we are healthy."

He added, "We think we are living in an evolved society, but the amount of filth that we consume go unnoticed and unrealised. Kudos to the director for showing the impact of this and the next level of impact of this, in a rather entertaining way."

Meanwhile, speaking about the scene from Sardar that haunted him the most, Karthi said, "There is a line which goes, 'Each and every bottled water that is sold for money, represents the twisting of a child's neck.' As that dialogue is said the cap of a bottle is twisted. He (Mithran), mentioned this while narrating the story. But that was very haunting for me."

He added, "Every generation should be responsible for the well-being of the next."

Sardar follows the story of a former spy who returns to India to stop a suspicious company from opening a toxic bottled water company. The cast of the film includes Raashii Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, Laila, Munishkanth, Avinash, Yugi Sethu and Balaji Sakthivel, among others.

The sequel to the 2022 film, titled Sardar 2, will feature SJ Suryah as the villain. The upcoming film is set to release on September 10.
