Asin Thottumkal may have kept herself away from films and the public eye for years, but the actor occasionally opens a small window into her life through social media. This Onam, it was her daughter Arin who took centre stage, with Asin sharing a few glimpses of the eight-year-old’s festive celebrations at home.

In the Instagram Stories posted on Wednesday, Arin was seen dressed in a bright yellow-and-orange traditional outfit as she worked on a Pookalam. Surrounded by trays of flowers, including marigolds and roses, she appeared to be fully involved in putting together the floral design. Her father, businessman Rahul Sharma, was also seen joining her in the celebrations.

The pictures also offered a rare look at Arin, whose life Asin has largely kept away from the public gaze. The youngster wore her long, thick hair loose, with one of the photographs showing her engrossed in the festive preparations. Asin also indicated that she had let her daughter take charge of the Pookalam this year.

The glimpse comes as a surprise for fans, given Asin’s limited social media presence in recent years. Reports note that the actor’s posts have largely revolved around special occasions involving her daughter, rather than regular updates about her personal life.

Asin, who began acting as a teenager with the Malayalam film Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001, went on to become a prominent name in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema. Her credits include Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi, Ghajini, Sivakasi, Varalaru and Dasavathaaram. She made her Hindi debut with the 2008 remake of Ghajini, starring opposite Aamir Khan, and subsequently appeared in films such as London Dreams, Ready and Housefull 2.

Her final film, All Is Well, was released in 2015. She married Rahul Sharma, co-founder of Micromax, in 2016, and the couple welcomed Arin in 2017. Since then, Asin has largely chosen family life over the spotlight, making these occasional glimpses all the more notable for her fans.
