The trailer opens with the character played by the late K Bhagyaraj, advising his son Mayilsamy (Kavin), to be decisive in the matters of love. In his attempts to find love he subsequently finds failures and ends up taking an extreme step, when he meets Devayani (Nayanthara) by chance. The film hints at the rest of the story being a series of capers resulting as an effect of Mayilsamy's nimble and frightful nature, with Mayilsamy himself wanting to succeed in his romance.

Lyricist Vishnu Edavan, who has worked as an assistant director to Lokesh Kanagaraj, is making his debut as a director with Hi. He has also written for the film.
