Actor Wamiqa Gabbi, who is basking in the success of Arun Matheswaran's recent outing, DC, penned a note on her character Chandra.

She shared a post on her social media handle that Chandra changed her life. She wrote, "The first time Chandra changed my life, nobody knew her but me. The second time, the world did."

She compares her experience with Chandra with that of Chandra's experience with Das (Lokesh Kanagaraj). She wrote, "In the film, Daas rescues Chandra… gives her the freedom to discover who she truly is.

Somewhere along the way, Chandra did the same for me. She rescued a part of me I hadn’t met yet… and showed me who I could be."

DC is an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's 1917 novel Devdas. The film marks Lokesh Kanagaraj's debut as a lead actor, after he made cameo appearances in other films. It follows an outcast named Devadas (Lokesh), who embarks on a quest for redemption and justice soon after taking revenge against those who hurt an innocent family. The film also stars Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Krish Dayal, Avinash Raghudevan, and Thalaivasal Vijay, among others.

The film continues to earn praise and numbers at the box office. The latest BO collection has not been announced. Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures, the banner that produced DC, announced a week ago that the film has crossed Rs 50 Crore worldwide.

Another aspect of the film that audiences have been appreciating is Mukesh G's cinematography. In our review, Avinash Ramachandran wrote, "Anirudh’s soundtrack is the lifeline of DC. It is through his music that we acclimatise ourselves to the raw and gritty nature of Devadas (a competent Lokesh Kanagaraj) and the dreamy yet dreary life of Parvathi (a lovely Sanjana)." The review also added, "DC also boasts of terrific visuals," with a special note on "the interval block where lighting a matchstick illuminates Devadas and Chandra against a car’s mirror" and "the climactic sequence where we see a novel approach to the spreading of smoke and debris after a bomb blast."
