Actor Nayanthara, who will be seen starring alongside Kavin in the upcoming film Hi, shared how the film's sets felt. In a recent promotional interview for the film, releasing on August 28, she said the Hi sets felt like a family, and the last time she had such an experience was on the sets of Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2008).
The actor recalled how the presence of late filmmaker Bhagyaraj, veteran actors Prabhu and Radikaa made the sets feel alive. "Radikaa mam is unfiltered. She is open and upfront about everything. Not that she has any ill will towards anyone; she does not have any pretense. She tells stories from her 80s and 90s film experiences. The set enters 'Jolly mode' when Radikaa ma'am steps inside," she said.
She also adds that Bhagyaraj and Prabhu's sets too felt like being in the presence of Chithappa and Periyappa (uncles). "We all sit together and talk endlessly. It has been a very long time since a film's set felt like family. The last time I was a part of such a film was during Yaaradi Nee Mohini."
Hi is written and directed by Vishnu Edavan, with additional screenplay and dialogues by CU Muthuselvan. The film marks the first collaboration between Kavin and Nayanthara. The makers are yet to reveal plot specifics, but it is described as a "fun-filled" romantic-comedy. Nayanthara plays a character who is named after herself in the film, and Kavin stars as her romantic interest.
On the technical front, the upcoming film has composer Jen Martin, cinematographer Rajesh Shukla, editor Philomin Raj, and art directors Kannan S and Sekar B.
