Kamal Haasan's daughter, Akshara, recently opened up about what it is like to come from a film family. Speaking to Mid-Day, Akshara Haasan said that her family members support each other, even though those outside attempt to draw comparisons between their work. "Maybe outside people did try to pit us against each other, but we as a family have each other's back. Therefore, we didn’t really feel the pressure. If at home, you’re allowed to be the best version of yourself, then the rest of it somehow ends up becoming noise after a while," Akshara said with regard to comparisons between her and Shruti Haasan.

The actor's sentiment on the comparisons between her and her sister echoes that of Kamal Haasan, with regard to the parallels between him and Rajinikanth. In a Star Plus interview dating back years, Kamal that he had no "rivalry" with the Superstar. "We are both from the same camp," he said, setting the record straight. He clarified that both market forces and viewers created a narrative regarding him and Rajinikanth being rivals. "We played along because you need two goals to make the match interesting," said Kamal Haasan back then.

Akshara Haasan stars in Simulacra, a science-fiction film that has been streaming on the streamer platform Waves OTT since mid-July. The film, which hails from director Pankaj Sawant, features her as a character named Nivi. It also stars Satyajeet Dubey in an important role.

Akshara made her debut with a role in director R Balki's 2015 film Shamitabh, co-starring Dhanush and Amitabh Bachchan. Her acting credits also include Vivegam (2017) with Ajith and Kadaram Kondan (2019), co-starring Vikram.

Simulacra marked her return to acting after 2022's Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu.

On the other hand, Shruti Haasan's upcoming projects include Train with director Mysskin and Vijay Sethupathi, as well as Aakasamlo Oka Tara with Dulquer Salmaan.
