Even as anticipation builds around his directorial debut An Ordinary Man, starring Yogi Babu, actor, filmmaker and producer Ravi Mohan has opened up about the philosophy that forms the heart of the film.

In a recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, Ravi described An Ordinary Man as a story that celebrates the extraordinary potential hidden within an ordinary person. "As you've seen in the promo, this is the story of an ordinary man. It's about the extraordinary character of an ordinary man. What could be more extraordinary than the character of an ordinary human being? That's the ultimate truth," he said.

Elaborating on the film's central idea, Ravi reflected on life and purpose. "We often wonder why we were born or what our purpose is. But instead of dwelling on that, let's focus on what we do because we were born. We can discover the meaning later."

He went on to add that people often ask what life has given them, whereas the more important question is what they have given back to life. "Rather than asking, 'What meaning has life given me?' or 'What has life done for me?', life itself might ask us, 'I've given you life—what meaning have you given to it?' If we can give even a reasonable meaning to the life we've been given, then when we reach the end of our journey, we'll have the satisfaction of having lived a meaningful life."

Summing up the film's thematic arc, Ravi said, "An Ordinary Man is about an average man becoming a true human being. That human being becomes a good human being. And that good human being becomes godlike. That's the story."

An Ordinary Man went on floors in March following a traditional pooja ceremony. Produced under Ravi Mohan Studios, the film stars Yogi Babu in the lead and marks Ravi Mohan's maiden outing as a director. While the makers are yet to reveal details about the supporting cast, genre or plot, the project has already generated interest for bringing together Ravi Mohan and Yogi Babu after their collaboration in Comali.
