Ashraf Ali stars in the upcoming film Photographer, which is slated for an August 07 release in theatres. Ahead of its release, Ashraf spoke exclusively to Cinema Express regarding Photographer, the process of bringing the film to the big screen, his ambitions and more. The actor said that he plans to do a film about air travel, although it requires a high amount of money and one to be both an actor and a commercial pilot. "Only a pilot can do this film in the world. Either John Travolta or I should do it. We both are commercial pilots and actors," Ashraf said.
The actor added that the film he has in mind is about a kidnapping incident during a flight.
"Soorarai Pottru is about the airline business, but it is not about flying or the cockpit. I want to come up with a story that explores how a pilot is formed with many interesting aspects," Ashraf Ali revealed, referring to the cockpit thriller subgenre.
It is worth noting that John Travolta has starred in a thriller such as Broken Arrow as a pilot.
Coming back to Photographer, the film is also directed by Ashraf Ali, and it stars him alongside Janani Samathanam in the female lead. The cast includes Karunakaran, Devi Mahesh, Aadukalam Naren, Vela Ramamoorthy, Nizhalgal Ravi, and Vetrivel Raja. The official plotline for the film reads thus: "Photographer follows Veera, a troubled and obsessive photographer determined to prove his worth in a world that has long dismissed him. Driven by ambition and haunted by a painful past, he ventures deep into Mathikettan Solai, a mysterious reserve forest, to capture a rare and elusive natural phenomenon that could change his life forever."
The upcoming film's technical team includes composer Rajkumar Chandrasekaran, cinematographer Rayeez Ahmed, editor RC Pranav, and stunt choreographer Dinesh Subbarayan, among others.
