The makers of Signal at 11.30, directed by Malarvizhi Venkatesan, have announced that the romantic thriller will hit theatres on September 18. The film stars Santhosh Prathap, Bhavya Trikha, Poojitha Ponnada, and Jayaprakash in pivotal roles.
Speaking about the film's intriguing title, Malarvizhi was asked whether 11.30 refers to 11.30 am or pm. However, the filmmaker chose not to reveal the answer, saying that the mystery has been intentionally kept under wraps and will be unveiled through the film.
The director also shared the interesting origin of the story. According to her, the idea for Signal at 11.30 struck while she was waiting at the Sholinganallur signal in Chennai at the time. Malarvizhi, who also runs a school in Chennai, described the film as her second directorial venture and said it is a romantic thriller with a social message.
When asked about his role, Santhosh Prathap hinted that his character carries shades of villainy despite being the protagonist. "I'm always ready to experiment with different kinds of roles. In my recent films, I've consciously tried to break away from stereotypical characters. 11.30 will answer several questions and meet certain expectations," he said.
Bhavya Trikha, known for her performances in Joe and Bun Butter Jam, remained tight-lipped about her character. she simply said, "Expect the twist in the twisted," suggesting that the film has a major surprise in store.
Going by its trailer, Signal at 11.30 promises to blend romance, suspense, and thriller elements while delivering a social message.
With music by D Imman, other members of the technical team include cinematography by Raja Bhattacharjee, editing by R Kalaivanan and art direction by Muni Krishnan. The film is produced by Malarvizhi's daughter, Dr. Shivani Subramani.
