The news is sure to bring some relief to legions of Vijay fans who have been awaiting the film's release since January this year

Vijay's final film, Jana Nayagan, has been having an arduous journey with regard to its release. While the film, directed by H Vinoth, was initially set for a Pongal release, it got delayed because of censorship issues related to the film's political elements. Subsequently, the film's producer, KVN Productions, issued a case against the Censor Board, claiming that the organisation was denying the release clearance despite them adhering to its suggested cuts.

After plenty of back-and-forth between the Censor Board and KVN Productions, the production banner finally withdrew the case and agreed to take the film through the revision committee to avoid any further delay in its release. However, the film has been awaiting censorship clearance for the last four months.

Recently, the film was even leaked online, leading to a section of the audience watching it through pirated sources. Law enforcement has made the first arrests concerning the leak of the film.

Meanwhile, according to the latest reports, the Censor Board is expected to issue the release clearance certificate for the film after the results on the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections are announced, which is set to happen on May 04, Monday. Reports say that with the postponement of KVN Productions' own Toxic, starring Yash in the lead role, from its June date to a hitherto-unannounced date, a release slot has been opened for Jana Nayagan. As a result, KVN Productions is eyeing a late May or early June release date for the film.

A remake of Bhagavanth Kesari, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and Sreeleela, the upcoming film also features actors Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Narain, and Prakash Raj, among others.

On the technical front, the film has music by Anirudh, cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan, editing by Pradeep E Ragav, and action choreography by Anl Arasu.
