Dhanush and the team of Kara are currently on a promotional spree for their period action drama, which is set to hit theatres on April 30. Ahead of the film's release, Dhanush, during the Hyderabad pre-release event, pulled up director Venky Atluri playfully for "disappearing" on him.

For the unversed, Dhanush and Venky Atluri had a successful collaboration with 2023 film Vaathi. Simultaneously shot in Tamil and Telugu languages, with the latter version titled Sir, the film also starred Samyuktha in a key role. It became one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of that year, earning Rs 105 crore worldwide. GV Prakash, who scored music for the action drama won the National Film Award for Best Music Direction.

Dhanush hinted at a second collaboration with Venky Atluri. The actor said that the filmmaker narrated a story to him long back but then "disappeared." Dhanush asked Venky to come back with the same story and he is ready to take it forward. He also congratulated him for the success for Lucky Baskhar, and wished him for his upcoming film Vishwanath & Sons, starring Suriya and Mamitha Baiju in the leads, slated for release in July this year.

Details regarding the project remains unknown and it was not revealed if Venky Atluri will take up the project after the release of Vishwanath & Sons.

Interestingly, Dhanush's upcoming film Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja, also features Mamitha Baiju as the female lead. Jayaram, KS Ravikumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, MS Bhaskar, Karunaas, Sreeja Ravi, and Prithvi Pandiarajan are also part of the cast. Alfred Prakash has written for the film along with director Vignesh.

The film has him playing Karasaami aka Kara, a robber during the Gulf War of 1991 which leads to a fuel crises in Tamil Nadu, forcing him to battle for his sustenance.
