Following the announcement that Ajith Kumar's 25th film, Amarkkalam, will be re-released on April 24, the makers dropped the trailer on Monday.

The almost three-minute trailer opens with Vasu (Ajith) growing up as a loveless loner who finds a companion in Mohana (Shalini), as he finds Tulasi Das (Raghuvaran), who first wants him to love Mohana for revenge, now coming in the way when Vasu actually falls for her.

Released in 1999, Amarkkalam is still loved for the massy characterisation of Ajith, his transition from a beast to a man, the romantic portions, and songs. What also makes the film special among Ajith fans is that this is where Ajith and Shalini's meet-cute happened, eventually becoming a real-life couple. Following the success of the film, Saran reunited with Ajith in Attagaasam and Aasal.

Written and directed by Saran, the film also stars Nassar, Vinu Chakravarthy, Dhamu, Charle, Vaiyapuri, Ramesh Khanna, and Mahanadi Shankar.
