Sathyaraj: I expected Vijay to respect Stalin amidst Jana Nayagan's delay

The actor's comments have started to face some backlash on the internet

Actor Sathyaraj, known as a strong supporter of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), recently made certain sarcastic comments about actor and TVK chief Vijay in relation to the delayed release of his film Jana Nayagan. Sathyaraj alleged that Vijay apologised and pleaded to Jayalalithaa to ensure the release of his film Thalaivaa back in the 2010s. The 2013 film faced political backlash, with its tagline 'Time to Lead' reportedly contributing to opposition from the Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK. Back then, according to reports, the government regarded the tagline as a way of Vijay catering to the masses rather than as a cinema marketing strategy.

Sathyaraj drew a parallel between Vijay's way of dealing with the Thalaivaa delay and his approach with regard to the delay in Jana Nayagan's release. The actor said that he expected that Vijay would talk about CM MK Stalin with respect.

"Instead, Vijay called him 'Stalin Uncle,'" Sathyaraj said, referring to one of the superstar's many speeches where he sarcastically taunted the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. While Vijay first made the comment before the Jana Nayagan delay happened, the superstar has since been critical of Stalin and the DMK.

Sathyaraj also suggested that if Vijay had addressed Jayalalithaa as 'Aunty,' he would have been bashed. "Imagine what would have happened if he had described Jayalalithaa Madam as 'Jayalalithaa Aunty'? He would have been bashed like kothu parotta. Then, he would not have been able to sing the 'Naa Ready Dha' song; he would have had to sing 'Thotta Petta Rottu Mela Mutta Parotta.'"

The actor's comments have started to face some backlash on the internet. Meanwhile, his son, actor Sibi Sathyaraj, put a cryptic post on X where he supported Vijay. Sharing a photograph of Vijay, Sibi wrote that life would be jovial if you stay tight-lipped to those who try to spread hatred and instigate a reaction. Earlier, Sibi also criticised the leak of Jana Nayagan.
