Despite opening to polarised reviews upon release, the makers of Pradeep Ranganathan and Vignesh Shivan's latest sci-fi romance, Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), have earned over Rs 50 crore.
The makers shared on Friday that the film has earned Rs 54.3 crore worldwide in its second weekend.
The film is set in the year 2040 in Chennai, where an app, Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), that promises to calculate compatibility between couples with precision. This app brings trouble into the love life of Vibe Vassey (Pradeep Ranganathan), someone not addicted to using gadgets, and his social media influencer girlfriend Dheema (Krithi Shetty).
An excerpt from the CE review reads, "Love Insurance Kompany introduces a lot of promising ideas only to suffer a dramatic fall, more dramatic than the film itself. Like Gen Z films that make token cultural references, LIK has refurbished the overdone social media interface with a specious futurism."
In addition to Pradeep and Krithi, the film also stars SJ Suryah, Krithi Shetty, Seeman, and Gouri G Kishan.
