Actor Suriya has voiced out his support for Jana Nayagan, after the film was leaked online. During the late hours of April 9, some footage of Jana Nayagan was discovered to be leaked, after which it was discovered that the entire film was leaked online.

Taking to his X handle, Suriya, wrote, "Heartbreaking and unfair — an entire team’s passion reduced to this. I request you all with honesty, please don’t watch, share, or discuss the film here. Respect their work. I stand with my friends and condemn the act, it’s unforgivable!"

Suriya and Vijay have worked together on the former's debut, Nerukku Ner (1997), and in Friends (2001). Vijay had also appeared on the 2007 docudrama, Herova? Zerova? which was produced by Suriya.

Jana Nayagan is Vijay's final film before he retirement from acting, for a career in politics. The film is written and directed by H Vinoth, and produced by Venkat K Narayana under his KVN Productions banner. Anirudh has composed music for the film. The cast of the film features Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, amongst its cast.
