The Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections are almost here. This Thursday also marks the day of polling in the Kerala elections. Ahead of the elections in both states, many social media users are sharing a clip where Vijay Sethupathi can be seen urging people to vote with caution.

"My dear people, be careful when you cast your votes. Please think about it deeply when casting your votes," the actor said at an event some years back. Vijay also told people not to vote for parties or candidates who try to solicit it based on caste and religion. "It is important to cast your vote. Support those who say, 'There is a problem with our land, collage, friend, or state.' Do not join those who say, 'There is an issue with our caste and religion.'"

Vijay Sethupathi also warned people that those who solicit votes using caste-based and religious campaign promises would have police protection when they become ministers.

The actor suggested that such people would instigate caste- or religion-based hatred, posing a threat to public safety, even as they sit in the comfort of their homes with full security. "Only we would find ourselves in trouble if we vote for them," the actor said.

Vijay's comments have been widely shared on social media in a clip ahead of the elections in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The timing of this clip hints at a move to have an influence on voter sentiments.

Vijay is known for making such progressive political and social statements, although he has mentioned that he does not have any interest in joining politics. His statements frequently revolve around social harmony, secularism, and education rather than politics based on partisanship.

On the work front, the actor's upcoming films include Train with Mysskin, Arasan with Vetri Maaran and co-starring Silambarasan, and Slum Dog with Puri Jagannadh. Morever, the actor has a cameo in Nelson's Jailer 2, co-starring Rajinikanth.
