"Actor Natty's political drama TN 2026 is set for its theatrical release on April 10. The film is directed by Umapathy Ramaiah. In an exclusive interview with CE, Natty was asked for a long-lasting memory from the shoot of Youth, starring Vijay. He revealed that he once got reprimanded by Vijay. "We had finished shooting a scene in Youth (2002), and it was the last day of the schedule for Vijay sir. We had already shot the footage, but a small problem cropped up. Director Vincent Selva pushed me forward to talk to Vijay, sir. I went and said what cameramen usually say: 'Sir, we need to reshoot that scene' He asked me what the problem was," he said.
He further continuned, "Back then, we shot on film, so I told him, 'Sir, the negative got fogged, so the image is lost; we have to redo it.' He noted that the original scene took an entire day to shoot, and it was already 11:30. He said, 'I will finish this schedule this evening and leave for another film; it will be 20 days before I return. Can we finish it by then?' I assured him we could."
Eventually, they reshot the scene. "We started immediately and wrapped everything up. Around 5:30 PM, I told him we were done with the scene. Vijay sir called me over and said, 'Come, let’s talk.' He then noticed and said, 'If you’re going to lie, you should know how to do it—otherwise, you shouldn't lie at all. That day, she was wearing a blue saree; today, she is wearing a yellow saree. So, the problem was with the saree, not with your film.' He also told me, 'Don't carry other people’s problems on your own shoulders; it’s not good for you.' He said it all with a smile, but it is an incident that I can never forget," Natty recalled.
During the same interview, when the team was asked if TN 2026 faced any censorship issues since political content films face censorship issues lately, he said, Thambi Ramaiah said, "The director and producer will handle those discussions. As for censorship, there’s no such thing. If such a restriction existed, we wouldn't be able to give our best. We are not bound by the censor; rather, the censor is bound by art. As a writer, I know that my pen knows no bounds; it can strike from any direction, 360 degrees. It will swing here and there, and the censor will be left stunned, unable to pin it down. And it’s not about the censor’s limits."
The film TN 2026 is produced by Kannan Ravi and also stars Shrita Rao, MS Bhaskar, Ilavarasu, Redin Kingsley, Chandini Tamilarasan, Viji Chandrasekhar, and Sandy. The film has music composed by Darbuka Siva.
