Recently, we reported about Dhanush litigating Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara for the unauthorised use of a BTS footage from her film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in the couple's wedding documentary. As the film's producer, Dhanush sued the couple, sparking an intense discourse around copyright infringement and a public feud between the actor and Nayanthara. Vignesh Shivan supported his wife's stance against Dhanush on social media, although he largely maintained a dignified silence on the issue, while letting the legal formalities take precedence.
Vignesh Shivan has finally opened up about the break in his relationship with Dhanush. In a recent conversation with Gobinath, the filmmaker said that he likes Dhanush much and rates the latter highly as an actor. "His birthday is on July 28th, which is also the day on which my father died. I always see my father in Dhanush sir," Vignesh said.
The filmmaker also put the rift with Dhanush down to an inexplicable situation. He suggested that it is an unfortunate situation before describing the rift as his biggest loss. "If you lose someone who is in good terms with you, it is a shame. There has been a mistake at some place," the filmmaker added.
Vignesh also expressed his gratitude to Dhanush by suggesting that he would not be where he is today if not for his collaborations with the actor. The filmmaker also reminisced about the long time he worked with Dhanush on writer-director Velraj's Velaiyilla Pattathari. "I worked with him continuously for around two and half years on the VIP movie," he said.
On the work front, Vignesh Shivan's upcoming films include Love Insurance Kompany, starring Pradeep Ranganathan, SJ Suryah, Krithi Shetty, Yogi Babu, and Gouri Kishan, among others.
