Filmmaker-actor Selvaraghavan revealed in a recent interview that he is not a fan of sob stories and always likes to watch films as a child where the hero takes care of the problems and saves the day.
Calling himself an MGR fan, Selvaraghavan, in a conversation with Galatta Plus, revealed that he wanted to watch upbeat films as a child. "In MGR films, you wouldn't see him cry for long. There is no problem he wouldn't solve." He further stated that his 2010 film Aayirathil Oruvan is proof of MGR’s influence on him.
He added that when everyone in his house, including his brother and actor Dhanush, were die-hard fans of legendary actor Sivaji, he stood out. He also recalled that Mani Ratnam's Agni Natchathiram changed his perspective on films forever.
Interestingly and ironically, Selvaraghavan's films, such as Kadhal Konden and 7G Rainbow Colony, had tragic endings, making them special and impactful for years to come.
Selvaraghavan will be seen playing the lead role in Dennis Manjunath's Manithan Deivamagalam, which releases in theatres on April 10. On the directorial front, he has Mental Manadhil, starring GV Prakash and 7G Rainbow Colony 2. He said that he is planning to release both his directorial features in 2026.
