Recently, we reported about director RS Durai Senthilkumar's Leader, starring Legend Saravanan in the lead role, receiving positive reviews from audiences. The early reviews for the film exceeded audiences' expectations from it. Now, it appears that the positive feedback has been having some effect on the film's collection at the box office.

According to the box office track Sacnilk, Leader has grossed 2.73 crore as of yet. The tracker reported an opening day collection of 77 lakh and a second day collection of 1.08 crore for the film. Until now, it has minted 51 lakh from theatres on day three; however, it is worth noting that the total collection for the day will only be out at later this evening.

Notably, the box office collection of Leader has surpassed that of Kaalidas 2, starring Bharath. According to Sacnilk, the spiritual sequel to director Sri Senthil's Kaalidas, starring Bharath in the titular role for the second time, has grossed 1.02 crore from theatres thus far. Both films hit theatres in a jam-packed release window that also the releases of films such as Samuthirakani's Carmeni Selvam and Naveen Chandra's Neelira.

Audiences say that Leader is a marked improvement from its lead actor's first film, 2022's The Legend, directed by JD Jerry. In our Leader movie review, Avinash Ramachandran wrote, "Basically, despite having similar beats to Legend, Leader proves that writing flourishes and a strong conviction to say ‘NO’ when required can make a film out of anything and an actor out of anyone. Basically, Leader makes you come to terms with the fact that he isn’t going anywhere, and this time, all did not go in vain."
