The makers of Nooru Sami, starring Vijay Antony and Swasika in the lead roles, dropped a two-minute teaser for the film earlier this Saturday. Judging by the Nooru Sami teaser, director Sasi's film follows a woman (Swasika), who has apparently done something that goes against her community's religious beliefs. The villagers call the woman's act 'disgusting' and 'humiliating'. At one point in the teaser, a character says, "We preserve our caste through women. Only by controlling them can we protect our caste and clan." Reportedly, Vijay Antony plays the woman's relative.
It appears that the villagers hunt for the woman because of the mysterious act that she has allegedly committed. Sharing the teaser release update yesterday, Vijay wrote, "From true family events, comes a story of love, life, struggles and everything in between!" It also stars Ajay Dhishan, Karunaas, Lijomol Jose, Sakthi, and Kavya Anil in important roles. The supporting cast includes Balaji Sakthivel, Munishkanth, Aruldoss, Jenson Dhivakar, Padini Kumar, Bucks, Thamarai, Vinodhini, Muthualagi, Kodangi Vadivelu, Saratha, Abinaya, Sabitha Roy, Moorthy, and Subramania Siva, among others.
The film is based on a real incident. This perhaps explains why the Nooru Sami teaser appears to have footage of real people talking about the incident, alongside the film's own footage.
The film reunites Vijay Antony with his Pichaikkaran director, Sasi. Besides starring in the film, Vijay also serves as its producer. On the other hand, the actor's daughter Meera Vijay Antony is credited as a presenter of the film.
On the technical front, Nooru Sami has composer Balaji Sriram, cinematographer SB Darshan Kirlosh, editor Harish Yuvaraj, and art director V Sasi Kumar. The film is slated for a May 01 release in theatres, also with dubs in Telugu titled Vanda Devullu. Meanwhile, here is a link to the teaser:
