Actor-turned-politician Vijay is facing plenty of flak for the tragic stampede during his campaign rally in Karur. While some have expressed their solidarity with Vijay in relation to the Karur stampede, others have pinned the blame squarely on him for the incident. Meanwhile, actor Krishna took to his Instagram Stories to share his two cents about the incident. Krishna wrote that it hurts him "deeply to hear about the lives lost" and expressed his "deepest condolences to their families and friends." He went on to add that financial compensation or condolence messages are not enough to compensate for the tragedy that occurred on Saturday. "No amount of money or condolences will make up for the lives lost."

He also asked the public to let the families of the deceased mourn in utmost privacy. In addition, Krishna weighed in on the hot discourse around who takes the blame for the Karur stampede. "One person cannot be blamed. We are to be blamed," he wrote.

The stampeded unfolded after the branches of a tree fell onto some members of the public attending Vijay's campaign rally in Karur, triggering panic among the others. Vijay's party TVK announced 20 lakh as compensation for each of the victims who died in the stampede, in addition to 2 lakh each for the injured. Besides, the MK Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government announced 10 lakh and 1 each each for the families of the deceased and the injured, respectively.
