Kavin's recent film Kiss, marking the directorial debut of choreographer Sathish Krishnan, opened to mixed to positive reviews. The film received acclaim for its performances and the fantasy elements woven into a romantic narrative. However, critics pointed out issues with the screenplay in the second half.

Appreciating the film, filmmaker Ajay Gnanamuthu called it a "breezy feel-good film." He went on to wish Sathish on his debut and the performances of Kavin, Preethi Asrani, and VTV Ganesh. He also praised Harish Kannan's visuals.

Meanwhile, Ajay Gnanamuthu last made the sequel to the 2015 hit movie Demonte Colony, Demonte Colony 2. He is currently working on the third installment of the franchise.

Kiss also stars RJ Vijay, Devayani, and Rao Ramesh. The film's technical crew has cinematographer Harish Kannan, editor RC Pranav, art director Mohan Mahendran, and stunt directors Peter Hein, Dinesh Subbarayan, and Rambo Vimal.

An excerpt from the CE review reads, "What holds this fortress is not just the unique screenplay or laughs, but a not-in-your-face message that kindness and love given will always eventually return. You tend to take comfort in the reiteration of this old-school idea of Dharmam Thalaikaakum."
