Director Pa Ranjith, whose production Thandakaaranyam released recently, has shared interesting updates on Sarpatta Parambarai 2 and Vettuvam.
In his recent interview with a YouTube channel, Avudaiappan Talks, the filmmaker said he is going to make minor tweaks to the Sarpatta Parambarai world along with writer Tamizh Prabha. "Vettuvam took more time than expected. That film will wrap in about 15-20 more days, and after that, I will shift focus to Sarpatta Parambarai 2. I can't reveal if it is a sequel or a prequel. But the era of the film is interesting. I am planning to make it a political drama. Having said that, the story will also have the elements that people loved in the first part, such as the boxing scenes and other characterisations."
On Vettuvam, he said he had initially planned to make it as a gangster film, but said that he lost interest in making the film that way. "Vettuvam is also about power-struggle, but the milieu did not interest me after a point. So I wanted to change it completely. I have carried the characters and made it a science fiction and futuristic drama."
Pa Ranjith last made Thangalaan, starring Vikram in the lead, in 2024. Set in the British-India era, the period drama traces the origin of the KGF gold mine.
