As Madharaasi completes its second week of theatrical run, the makers announced that the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer has grossed Rs 100 crores globally.
The film, marking the maiden collaboration between SK and Murugadoss, follows Raghu (Sivakarthikeyan), a depressed person with a condition called Fregoli Delusion, who is drawn into a sinister gun smuggling world and is on a mission to prevent the weapons from falling into a common man's hands. The primary driving factor is more personal than social responsibility.
The film received mixed to positive reviews upon its release on September 5. An excerpt from the CE review reads, "In many ways, Madharaasi is a solid comeback for Murugadoss, who was facing an extended slump in his career. It acts as a showreel for the action avatar of Sivakarthikeyan. It allows Rukmini to make a solid mark in a role that isn’t relegated to being a damsel in distress, and is, in fact, the reason why the wheels of the film are set in motion."
The film that stars Rukmini Vasanth as the female lead also stars Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Shabeer Kallarakkal, and Vikranth. The technical crew of the film includes Anirudh as the music composer, Sudeep Elamon as the cinematographer, and Sreekar Prasad as the editor.
