The makers of Thandakaaranyam announced that the film's trailer would be unveiled at 11 am on September 14. Thandakaaranyam, which is set to release theatrically on September 19. is directed by Athiyan Athirai, who previously directed Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu.

Pa Ranjith is producing Thandakaaranyam, under his Neelam Productions banner. Ranjith was also a producer on Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu. He produces alongside S Sai Devanand and S Sai Venkateswaran. Pa Saravanan, Manind Bedi, PJ Prakash serve as executive producers on the film. Thandakaaranyam is backed by Learn and Teach Productions.

The cast of Thandakaaranyam includes Dinesh, Kalaiyarasan, Riythvika, Vinsu Sam, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Muthukumar, Aruldoss, Saranya Ravichandran, and Bala Saravanan.

With Justin Prabhakaran composing the music, from lyrics by Umadevi and Thanikodi, the rest of the crew of the film includes Pratheep Kaliraja as the director of photography, Selva RK as the editor, T Ramalingam as the art director, with Stunner Sam and AS Sudeshkumar handling stunts.
