With less than a month to go for the release of Dhanush's Idli Kadai, promotions for the film are going in full swing with the makers releasing character posters for every actor playing a a key role in the project. Creative offline promotions have also been taking place with the team placing posters on idli carts across the state. But what the attention of curious cinephiles was a poster of Dhanush's family from the film that comprised of Sathyaraj, Shalini Pandey and Arun Vijay.

A large hoarding of Idli Kadai which has the four actors, placed at a busy location in Chennai is being shared widely by social media users. The poster, although not officially shared by the makers, has revealed that Sathyaraj as Vishnu Varadhan, Arun Vijay as Ashwin, Shalini Pandey and Dhanush are part of the same family. With this, several questions arise about the plot of the film. Is Dhanush playing dual roles as brothers? Does he go back to his roots to understand his bond with Sivanesan aka Rajkiran? Will Nithya Menen as Kayal and Dhanush be part of a key flashback portion that involves the beginning of Sivanesan Idli Kadai? Why does Dhanush support Arun Vijay's boxing pursuit and how does that connect with his origins?

Shalini Pandey's role, although known earlier through speculations and rumours, has never been confirmed by the makers until the new poster was shared. The character posters and the new Idli Kadai family poster has raised anticipation for the film. It also stars Parthiban as R Arivu and Samuthirakani as Marisamy.

A grand audio launch has been planned for the film, which will be Dhanush's fourth directorial on September 14 where further details are expected to be revealed.

The technical crew comprises Dhanush's frequent collaborator, composer GV Prakash, cinematographer Kiran Koushik, editor GK Prasanna, and art director Jackson.

The film is produced by Akash Bhaskaran through his Dawn Pictures banner and Dhanush through his Wunderbar Pictures banner. Inban Udhayanidhi, son of Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, will get his first film credit as a distributor.

Idli Kadai is slated for a theatrical release on October 1.
