The makers of Dhanush's fourth directorial, Idli Kadai, have been releasing character posters from the film in recent days.

As a recent update, the film's leading lady, Nithya Menen, will star as Kayal. Idli Kadai is her second collaboration with Dhanush, after the successful combination in Thiruchitrambalam. Earlier it was announced that Arun Vijay will play Ashwin, Sathyaraj as Vishnu Vardhan, Rajkiran as Sivanesan, and Parthiban as Arivu.

Nithya Menen has had two releases this year: Kadhalikka Neramillai opposite Ravi Mohan, directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi and Thalaivan Thalaivii opposite Vijay Sethupathi, directed by Paandiraj.

The technical crew comprises Dhanush's frequent collaborator, composer GV Prakash, cinematographer Kiran Koushik, editor GK Prasanna, and art director Jackson.

The film is produced by Akash Bhaskaran through his Dawn Pictures banner and Dhanush through his Wunderbar Pictures banner. Inban Udhayanidhi, son of Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, will get his first film credit as a distributor.

Idli Kadai is slated for a theatrical release on October 1, with the audio launch scheduled for September 14.
