The makers of Dulquer Salmaan-starrer Kaantha revealed that the film's released has been postponed. Kaantha, which is backed by Dulquer and Rana Daggubati, was set to release on September 12.

In the statement the makers wrote, "We've been truly moved by the love and support you've shown since the release of the teaser. It truly means the world to us, and pushes us to give you the very best. With the resounding success of Lokah, we want Chandra's rampage in the box office to keep soaring. We are putting together something equally special to take you on yet another incredible journey. Hence we've pushed the release date of Kaantha, and will be announcing a new release date soon. Until then, thank you for standing by us, We can't wait to see you at the cinemas soon."

Along with Dulquer, the film also stars Bhagyashri Borse and Samuthirakani. The film is set in 1950s Madras and chronicles the contentious relationship between a director and an actor.

Kaantha is directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, With Jhanu Chanthar composing music for the film, the rest of the technical crew of Kaantha consists of Dani Sanchez-Lopez as the cinematographer and Lewllyn Anthony Gonsalvez as the editor.
