The makers of Dhanush's Idli Kadai revealed that actor Samuthirakani will portray Marisamy in the upcoming film. Idli Kadai, which also stars Dhanush in the lead, is set to release in theatres on October 1.

Idli Kadai will be the sixth time Dhanush and Samuthirakani are sharing screen space after Velayilla Pattathaari, Velaiilla Pattathaari 2, Vada Chennai, Maaran, and Vaathi. But Idli Kadai will be the first time that Samuthirakani will be part of a Dhanush directorial.

The cast of Idli Kadai, includes Arun Vijay, Nithya Menen, Rajkiran, Sathyaraj, with Parthiban making a cameo appearance in the film. GV Prakash Kumar is composing music for the film, continuing his collaboration with Dhanush after Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam.

The film is produced by Akash Bhaskaran through his Dawn Pictures banner and Dhanush through his Wunderbar Pictures banner. Inban Udhayanidhi, son of Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, will get his first film credit as a distributor.
