Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi has stepped back into the director’s chair for Meesaya Murukku 2, with shooting having officially commenced on September 1, as per reports. According to a Daily Thanthi report, Aadhi has once again taken full creative control of the project, handling the story, screenplay, dialogues, songs, and music himself. Details about the cast are expected to be announced soon.

The upcoming sequel will pick up from where Meesaya Murukku (2017) left off, continuing Aadhi’s own story on screen. The first film, a coming-of-age musical comedy drama, followed his childhood and early struggles before breaking into cinema. The film became a box-office success, earning warm reviews and even inspiring a Kannada remake (Padde Huli) in 2019. With Meesaya Murukku 2, fans are eager to see what more of his life the rapper-turned-filmmaker chooses to narrate, especially the lesser-known chapters of his artistic journey.

Aadhi, who made his name as a rapper before entering Tamil cinema, has since built a multifaceted career as a composer, actor, and filmmaker. His music for films such as Thani Oruvan, Aambala and Aranmanai received appreciation, while he headlined films like Natpe Thunai, Naan Sirithal, Sivakumarin Sabadham and Anbarivu.

This will mark Hip Hop Tamizha Aadhi’s fourth directorial after the recent Kadaisi Ulaga Por, a sci-fi war drama that didn’t resonate as strongly with audiences. With Meesaya Murukku 2, however, he is expected to bounce back, delivering another personal and creatively charged outing. Fans are already looking forward to seeing how the sequel shapes up and what new facets of Aadhi’s story it will uncover.
