Legendary late actor Manorama's son Boopathi passes away

Born in 1955, Boopathi was the only son of the veteran actor who passed away in 2015

Late actor Manorama's son Boopathi, popular for his roles in a few Tamil films and serials, has passed away. He was 70. Boopathi, who was reportedly suffering from breathing-related issues, breathed his last on Thursday.

Born in 1955, Boopathi was the only son of the veteran actor who passed away in 2015. The actor, who is also a singer, played a key role in Kudumbam Oru Kadambam (1981), directed by SP Muthuraman, which was based on Visu's play. Later, he acted in Dhoorathu Pachai (1987) which also starred Manorama. In the following years, he took on roles in a few Tamil serials.

Boopathi is survived by his wife Dhanalakshmi, a son and two daughters. His mortal remains have been kept for public to pay homage at his residence in Neelakanda Mehta Street, T Nagar. His last rites are scheduled to take place on Friday, 3 pm, at Kannamapettai crematorium.

Manorama had acted in more than 1000 films and 5000 stage performances across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages. Fondly called Aachi, the comedian and singer earned fame and name worldwide for her comedic presence in films. Her sprawling career of more than six decades won her many laurels including Padma Shri and National Film Award. She passed away in 2015 at the age of 78.
