There has been plenty of discussion around the number of projects that Sai Abhyankkar had joined before the release of his debut film. At the Dude audio launch event earlier today, Sai's parents, singers Tippu and Harini, spoke highly of their composer son. Tippu admitted that he did not anticipate the level of success Sai has attained in such a short span. Meanwhile, at the audio launch of Sai's upcoming film, titled Dude, Harini said, "With his dedication and hardwork, he deserve greater success. He works almost 19 hours per day, and neither of us know how that is possible."
Earlier, Balti, one of the many projects that Sai signed up for in the recent past, hit theatres. At the time, Balti co-producer Santhosh T Kuruvilla revealed that the Shane Nigam starrer made him the highest-paid composer in Malayalam cinema's history. "My director told me about this brilliant singer whose albums were already big hits. Since we signed him, he has gone on to sign 11 Tamil films and 2 Telugu films," said Santhosh.
While Balti is the first film with Sai's music to release in theatres, his debut as a composer is the upcoming feature Benz, backed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Raghava Lawrence and Nivin Pauly. Earlier, he became popular with his independent singles ‘Katchi Sera’ and ‘Aasa Kooda’. The composer recently spoke about signing up for multiple projects across languages. In a recent interview with Sudhir Srinivasan, he said, "Most of the producers and filmmakers I'm working with are veterans in their respective fields. If, as an audience member, someone wonders whether a newcomer like me deserves back-to-back big projects, then surely a producer or director would’ve thought twice before signing me on, right? These opportunities haven’t come to me through influence; they’ve come through genuine networking."
