Earlier today, Netflix India announced the projects that are part of their upcoming slate across languages. One of the announcements concerns a series titled Legacy, starring R Madhavan and Nimisha Sajayan in the lead roles. According to the official logline, the series follows "an ageing patriarch of a powerful crime family" as he "races against time to anoint a successor to protect his mighty empire from an inevitable siege. He will have to fight to save the family, his empire and most importantly - his legacy."
Calling it a "deeply personal" series, its writer, director and creator Charukesh Sekar said, "I'm incredibly grateful to Netflix and Stone Bench for the creative freedom to bring it to life. I've always been intrigued by the complexities of human relationships and emotions, and writing it against the backdrop of a gangster world made it even more fascinating. This has been a team effort in every sense, supported by a powerhouse of talent both in front of and behind the camera. We intend to deliver the big screen immersive experience to personal devices. I'm excited for everyone to step into this world and meet these characters who mean so much to me."
On the other hand, Madhavan stated, "Ever so rarely, as an actor, you come across a story that touches and excites you from within, and when you get a story like that, you grab it with all that you have. Therefore, I'm so incredibly thrilled to be part of Legacy, a series that has all the makings of becoming its own title. It's a story that is cleverly written, with great hooks and twists that truly make it unlike anything that's been done in the Indian OTT space." Madhavan also spoke about his collaboration with the series' director and producer. "It was an absolute pleasure to work with a filmmaker like Charukesh Sekar, and the incredible team at Stone Bench, who are truly pushing the envelope in Tamil cinema."
Nimisha, too, expressed her excitement to be part of the project, which marks her debut in the Tamil web series space. "It's an incredible high-octane drama filled with emotions and thrills, and the cast is absolutely brilliant. This is my second time working with Stone Bench, and they truly feel like family. I have no doubt that our amazing director Charukesh and his talented, hardworking team will deliver a series that audiences will love."
Produced by Kalyan Subramanian of Stone Bench Pvt Ltd, the series also stars Gautham Karthik, Gulshan Deviah, Abhishek Banerjee, Swaswika, Kaali Venkat, Harish Uthaman, and Ramesh Thilak. Legacy is set to release on Netflix soon.
