After taking over the reigns of Red Giant Movies production company recently, Inban Udhayanidhi, the son politician and former actor Udhayanidhi Stalin and the grandson of Chief Minister MK Stalin, is all set to mark his entry into Tamil cinema. According to several reports, the 20-year-old is set to play the lead in director Mari Selvaraj's next film which will be made after Bison Kaalamaadan and before Dhanush's untitled D56. However, an official announcement is yet to be made by the makers.

Videos of Inban undertaking acting classes and workshops have already been circulating on social media for a while, and was speculated that he will soon be stepping into the industry. If the Mari Selvaraj–Inban project materialises, it could mark a defining moment in Inban's career, as he continues on the path once taken by his father.

It is worth noting that Mari Selvaraj had earlier collaborated with Udhayanidhi Stalin on the 2023 political action drama Maamannan, which also featured Vadivelu in a prominent role as Udhayanidhi’s father. The film was critically acclaimed for its raw portrayal of the 'politics of a chair' — symbolising power, hierarchy, and the struggle of an oppressed individual to rise within a deeply unequal political system.

Udhayanidhi Stalin quit acting after the film to focus on his political career and responsibilities as a deputy Chief Minister. Inban took over his father's production banner recently that Udhayanidhi founded in 2008. The announcement came along with the acquisition of the theatrical rights to Dhanush's latest directorial Idli Kadai.

Meanwhile, Mari Selvaraj is awaiting the release of Bison, a sports drama based on Kabaddi, starring Dhruv Vikram in the lead. Described as a story of "perseverance, determination and survival," the cast also includes Anupama Parameswaran, Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Pasupathi, Ameer, Kalaiyarasan, Azhagam Perumal, Madhan Dhakshinamoorthy, and Hari Krishnan Anbudurai. It hits theatres on October 17 where it will clash with Pradeep Ranganathan's Dude and Harish Kalyan's long-awaited Diesel at the box office.
