The other day, the Tamil Nadu State Government named the recently built flyover in Coimbatore after industrialist GD Naidu, and Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated it. Spanning around 10 kilometers, it is considered the longest flyover in Tamil Nadu. Earlier today, the makers of the R Madhavan starrer GDN, a film based on the former industrialist, thanked the Chief Minister for the decision to name it after him. In a statement, the film's producers, Varghese Moolans Pictures and Tricolour Films, wrote, "Our profound gratitude to the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri MK Stalin, for naming the newly constructed, longest flyover in Tamil Nadu (in Coimbatore) after the legendary inventor and industrialist GD Naidu. This historic dedication energizes our entire GDN movie unit as we bring the GD Naidu story to the big screen very soon to the cinemas."
Interestingly, the film's production is going on in Coimbatore itself. Krishnakumar Ramakumar of Oho Enthan Baby fame is the writer and director of GDN. Madhavan plays the titular role in the film, which also stars Jayaram, Sathyaraj, Priyamani, Yogi Babu, and Dushara Vijayan, among others. Varghese Moolan and Vijay Moolan are producing the film under the former's namesake banner, along with Madhavan and his wife Sarita of Tricolour Films. It marks a reunion for the producers after Rocketry: The Nambi Effect.
On the technical front, GDN has creative producer and cinematographer Aravind Kamalanathan as well as composer Govind Vasantha.
