Following the grand launch episode of Bigg Boss Tamil 9, hosted consecutively for the second time by Vijay Sethupathi, the 20 fresh faces in the Bigg Boss house got comfortable getting to know each other. Their conversations went on even after the lights were turned off for the night in the house. However, not all conversations were friendly.

Two contestants, Praveen Raj Dev and Diwakar, had an argument on the very first night of Bigg Boss Tamil season 9. The former is a passionate cinema aspirant, known for his work in television serials like Kizhakku Vaasal and Eeramana Rojave. The latter, popularly referred to as 'watermelon star' on social media, is a physiotherapist by profession who has a 'Dr' before his name.

Praveen and Diwakar got into an argument after the former asked the latter how a physiotherapist can be called a doctor. Praveen argued that Diwakar could only have 'PT' after his name. Diwakar, on the other hand, was denying the same. The heated debate, which took place in the bedroom, went on for a while.

While many assumed that Diwakar only entered the Bigg Boss house to further achieve his ambition of becoming an actor, the contestant revealed that he has another motive behind his participation in the reality TV competition. In his introductory AV, he revealed that he intends to build a physiotherapy hospital with the money he wins in the show.

On entering the Bigg Boss house, Praveen said, "If the other contestants are good with me, we can all be happy in the house; if not, you will have the same attitude as me." The 19 other contestants who have come onboard this season are Aurora Sinclair, FJ, VJ Paaru, Tushaar, Kani Thiru, Sabarinathan, Pravin Gandhi, Kemy, Aadhirai, Ramya Joo, Gana Vinoth, Viyana, Subiksha Kumar, Apsara CJ, Vikkals Vikram, Nandhini R, Kamrudin, and Kalaiyarasan.
