After a three-year break, the iconic 80s Stars Reunion, a tradition that brings together beloved faces from South Indian cinema, was held in Chennai on October 4, 2025.

The event, which was originally planned for last year, had to be postponed due to the floods that struck the city. When it finally took place this year, the mood was notably different, heartfelt and subdued, focusing on connection and compassion rather than grandeur.

Answering the collective wish of the stars, the reunion was hosted by Rajkumar Sethupathy and Sripriya at their home. The choice to move away from a lavish hotel venue was a conscious one, meant to create a space for genuine conversations and closeness. The evening was thoughtfully organised by Lissy Lakshmi, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Khushbu Sundar, and Suhasini Maniratnam.

Actors from across languages and states, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, travelled to Chennai to be part of the get-together. Among the 31 attendees were Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Jackie Shroff, Sarathkumar, Revathy, Ramya Krishnan, Radha, Shobana, Prabhu, Nadhiya, Suhasini Maniratnam, Jeyasudha, Sumalatha, Rahman, Khushbu, Naresh, Suresh, Menaka, Prabhu, Jayaram, Ashwathi Jayaram, Saritha, Banu Chandar, Meena, Latha, Swapna, Jeyashree, Poornima Bhagyaraj, and Bhagyaraj.

For a few precious hours, the group that once ruled the screens of the 1980s laughed, reminisced, and shared reflections on cinema and friendship. “It wasn’t about celebration this time,” said Suhasini Maniratnam, as per a press note. “It was about standing together to express empathy and gratitude for a bond that has survived time and fame,” added Lissy Lakshmi.

Taking to her official Instagram handle, Revathy shared the group photo and penned note. "An evening meeting friends we otherwise hardly meet… people we have worked with… the only group that has met for over 12 years… Thanks to Lissy, Hasini, Poornima, Rajkumar and Khushbu, who tirelessly work towards an evening where just being together is happiness… Class of 80s ROCK!!!"
