Actor Swaminathan, popularly known as 'Chaams' who has entertained audiences with his quirky and comedic supporting roles in films, has announced that he will be changing his name to Java Sundaresan.

Sharing the reason for his decision, he noted that although he had acted in multiple films under the name 'Chaams', fans widely recognised him as Java Sundaresan, the popular character from Chimbu Devan's 2008 hit Arai En 305-il Kadavul.

"Fans began calling me by that name, and it soon became widely known among the public. Wherever I go, people greet me as ‘Java Sundaresan,’ and memes celebrating the character have only amplified its reach," he said.

Chaams also underlined that he "accepted people's choice as destiny" and changed his name to Java Sundaresan and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Chimbu Devan and Shankar, who backed the film.

Thanking fans, meme creators, colleagues from the industry, producers, directors, and others, he added, "The love and recognition I have received for Java Sundaresan prove that with faith in the future, anyone can rise to great heights when the time is right. I humbly request everyone to continue supporting me and to address me henceforth as Java Sundaresan."

In his career spanning 20 years, Chaams acted in many Crazy Mohan dramas, besides his film roles. He acted alonsgside Vadivelu in Vijay's Sachien and went on to star in films like Kundakka Mandakka, Aaru, Veyil, Thaamirabharani, Silambattam, Palaivana Solai, Enthiran, Payanam, Onbadhule Guru and many others. His roles in Palaivana Solai, Payanam and Onbadhule Guru were widely appreciated. He was last seen in Desingu Raja 2.
