Earlier this Saturday, the makers of Angammal, starring Geetha Kailasam and Saran Sakthi in the lead roles, dropped the first trailer for the upcoming drama. The film, directed by Vipin Radhakrishnan, tells the story of a mother who insists on not wearing a traditional blouse, despite the persistence of her about-to-be-married son. Based on Perumal Murugan's story Kodithuni, the film explores themes of generational gap, class and economic divide, the importance of familial bonds, and so forth. Karthik Subbaraj of the Stone Bench Films banner is also part of the project as a presenter.

Angammal gained positive recognition and other accolades from film festivals around the world, which include top awards at the 2025 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and New York Indian Film Festival. Bharani and Thendral Raghunathan are also part of its cast.

The film is produced by Kaarthekeyen S, Firoz Rahim and Anjoy Samuel, and it also has Shamsudeen Khalid and Anu Abraham serving as co-producers. On the technical front, it has cinematography by Anjoy Samuel, music and background score by Mohammed Maqbool Mansoor, and editing by Pradeep Shankar.

After its long festival run, the film is set to have its theatrical release on December 05 this year.
