In order to strengthen Tamil cinema's "technical and creative capabilities," producer Ishari Ganesh and filmmaker AL Vijay came together to launch Vels – D Studio as a single-stop solution for all the technical needs of filmmakers.

It is said that the studio is designed with high-end cameras, editing suites, production equipment, sound and visual effects support, and outdoor units. The initiative promises to provide a "seamless and stress-free experience for directors, producers, and technicians."

Filmmaker AL Vijay said that this initiative comes at a crucial juncture of "Mumbai taking a lead ahead of Chennai in certain areas of filmmaking." He said, "Chennai has always been the heartbeat of Indian cinema. Over the years, I noticed how Mumbai was taking a lead in certain areas of filmmaking. That inspired me to create a world-class creative ecosystem here. Dr Ishari K. Ganesh sir, has been a lifelong inspiration. His discipline, leadership, and vision have always guided me  throughout my journey. This partnership feels extremely special. Together, Vels – D Studio will become a centre of excellence for Tamil cinema.”

Producer Ishari Ganesh said that he always wanted to create a "world-class creative home" in Chennai. He added, "It is a pleasure to partner with Director Vijay. I  have always wanted to create a world-class creative home in Chennai, a space where filmmakers can work comfortably and confidently. When I visited D Studios Post, I immediately felt it matched the vision I had imagined. I am happy to join forces with this talented team. With Vels – D Studio, we aim to provide filmmakers with the best facilities,  support the quality of cinema, and contribute to the growth of the Tamil film industry."

Both said that their goal is to strengthen Chennai as a hub for filmmaking.
