Lokesh Kanagaraj starts pre-production for his next directorial

One of Lokesh Kanagaraj's assistant directors had shared a photo with the team, confirming that works are ongoing for the noted director's seventh project

After his latest film Coolie, headlined by Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna, Lokesh Kanagaraj has gotten back behind the camera to start pre-production for his next, tentatively titled LK7. One of his assistant directors had shared a photo with the team, confirming that works are ongoing for the noted director's seventh project.

Pre-production on Kaithi 2, the sequel to his 2019 hit, has also started. While some groups on social media had hinted that the upcoming film might be this, specualations are also rife that he will be a helming a Telugu film, a first in his career. However, a confirmation from the director is awaited.

Meanwhile, Lokesh Kanagaraj is also working on DC, his acting debut with director Arun Matheswaran where he will be starring alongside Wamiqa Gabbi. While he will be playing the role of Devadas, Wamiqa who will portray Chandra. Sun Pictures is backing DC, in their second collaboration with Lokesh after the Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie. He was set to direct the upcoming Rajinikanth film Thalaivar 173, backed by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, but reportedly stepped back due to creative differences.

Coolie was released on August 14 this year to much anticipation with its star-studded cast featuring Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Rachita Ram with Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde in special appearances. However, the film received mixed reviews from critics and audience, but became a commercial success at the box office.
